Description
A hand-drafted 1921 patent drawing for a ship’s engine order telegraph, printed on gallery-wrapped canvas in 11×14 or 16×20. As a marine telegraph patent canvas print it arrives ready to hang, the dial face and pointer handle already printed in fine sepia line, so the only decision left is size.
The patent covers the telegraph that carried a captain’s commands from the bridge to the engine room: a dial split into stop, slow, half speed, and full speed, ahead and astern, with a pointer handle turned by hand and small indicator drops that confirmed each order was received. The drawing lays out the mechanism in the same fine hand-drafted linework a patent clerk would have filed away in 1921. It suits a study, den, or home office wall for anyone who loves ship history.
Made to order and printed by hand in our family-owned workshop in Northeast Ohio, this canvas uses fade-resistant inks on a gallery wrap built to hold its color for years. It reads as honest nautical office decor for a ship captain, a sailor, or anyone building a small collection of maritime instrument prints, and it settles naturally next to a ship model, a chart, or a set of brass fittings.
Both sizes hang with the canvas’s own adhesive strips, holding securely without nails or tools, and removing cleanly without holes or wall damage – ready to hang the moment it arrives. The gallery wrap gives either size a clean, classic edge, with the image carried around the sides.
A marine telegraph patent canvas print like this one makes a thoughtful gift for a ship captain, a sailor, or anyone who would rather hang a real bridge instrument than typical wall art. Bring it into a study, den, or office and let the linework carry the history.
Every order is made and packed by hand in our family shop in Northeast Ohio. We use premium gallery-wrapped canvas, high-quality frame material and fade-resistant inks for both prints and canvas. Each frame is made to order and shipped same or next business day.
