A Sunday on La Grande Jatte Canvas Print by Georges Seurat

Description

A Sunday on La Grande Jatte, Georges Seurat’s 1884-86 scene of Parisians at leisure along the Seine, prints edge to edge on gallery canvas in two sizes, 14×11 and 20×16, with a floating-frame upgrade available on either one. As a Sunday on La Grande Jatte canvas print it arrives ready to hang, the parasols, sailboats and even the small monkey on a leash rendered in the same countless dots of pure color Seurat used on the original.

Seurat spent nearly two years on this park scene, applying tiny dots of pure, unmixed color side by side rather than blending pigment on the canvas — a technique he called divisionism, and the art world came to know as pointillism. From across a room the dots resolve into ordinary color the way a printed photograph does; only up close does the underlying method reveal itself. The original hangs at the Art Institute of Chicago, and it remains one of the most studied paintings of the Post-Impressionist era, admired as much for the discipline pointillism required as for the calm afternoon it depicts.

Each canvas is made to order and printed by our family-owned shop in Northeast Ohio on gallery-wrapped canvas, with fade-resistant inks that keep Seurat’s color true for years. Choose the classic gallery-wrapped edge for a clean, borderless look, or step up to the floating frame for the added depth of framed canvas wall art without losing the crisp detail of the original pointillism print.

Each canvas ships with wall strips already included, so it holds securely without nails or tools, and removes cleanly without holes or wall damage whenever you decide to move it. The 14×11 suits a gallery wall or a narrow hallway, while the 20×16 holds its own as a standalone piece over a sofa or desk, and either size works equally well as calm office wall decor or a quiet living room accent.

Choose a size and style below and let one of Impressionism’s most studied park scenes settle onto your own wall.
