Description

The Lady of Shalott, printed on gallery-wrapped canvas from John William Waterhouse’s 1888 original at Tate Britain. Available as an 14×11 or 20×16, in classic gallery-wrap canvas or the floating-frame style. As the lady of shalott canvas print, it carries the woman in white drifting downriver in her punt, past the heraldic tapestry, the three candles with two already out, and the crucifix and lantern at the prow, straight onto the wall.

Waterhouse painted this scene in 1888, illustrating Tennyson’s poem about a woman under a curse who may only view the world through a mirror. Once she looks directly at Camelot she sets out anyway, and Waterhouse shows her already in the boat, the chain loosed, a heraldic tapestry draped over the gunwale and her own name carved along the bow. Two of the three candles at her feet have already gone out, and a crucifix and lantern sit at the prow, details Tennyson never wrote but Waterhouse added to signal what is coming. The painting has hung at Tate Britain in London since 1894.

Each canvas is printed and stretched to order in our family-owned workshop in Northeast Ohio, made in the USA with fade-resistant inks that keep the autumn palette true for years. Choose the classic gallery-wrapped canvas or upgrade to the floating-frame style for a look with more depth on the wall.

Both sizes hang with adhesive strips already in the box — press them to the wall and it holds securely without nails or tools, then removes cleanly without holes or wall damage, ideal for apartments, rentals, dorms, and offices. The floating frame is a simple upgrade if you want a shadow-box look without changing the print itself. The 20×16 anchors a study or library wall on its own, while the 14×11 pairs easily with other Pre-Raphaelite prints in a gallery wall.

The lady of shalott canvas print makes a striking addition to a gallery wall of Pre-Raphaelite and Victorian art, or stands alone in a study or bedroom.

Every order is made and packed by hand in our family shop in Northeast Ohio. We use premium gallery-wrapped canvas, high-quality frame material and fade-resistant inks for both prints and canvas. Each frame is made to order and shipped same or next business day.
