Six patent drawings span nearly ninety years of motorcycle history across three panels headed Harley, Through, and the Ages, printed on aged parchment. The earliest drawing is A. Ziska Jr.’s 1919 motorcycle patent, followed by W. S. Harley’s own 1928 patent for a cycle support and his 1923 engine patent, signed in his own hand. Three later design patents carry the story into the modern era: a 2006 muscle cruiser, a 1993 softail-style cruiser, and a 2001 naked streetfighter, each drawn the way an examiner needed to see it. Together the six drawings trace one machine’s evolution from 1919 to 2006, patent by patent, on a single sheet.
