Stellar Compass Patent Canvas Print, 1902 Navigation Instrument Wall Art

Description

A hand-drafted 1902 patent drawing for a mariner’s stellar navigation instrument, printed on gallery-wrapped canvas in 11×14 or 16×20. As a stellar compass patent canvas print it arrives ready to hang, the graduated rings and compass card already printed in fine sepia line, so the only decision left is size.

The patent covers an instrument built to steer a true course by the stars and lay a great-circle course without an ordinary compass: two graduated rings on crossed axes, a quadrant arm, and a compass card lettered with a full 360-degree scale. The drawing lays out the mechanism in the same fine hand-drafted linework a patent clerk would have filed away in 1902. It suits a study, den, or home office wall for anyone drawn to maps, travel, and the history of navigation.

Made to order and printed by hand in our family-owned workshop in Northeast Ohio, this canvas uses fade-resistant inks on a gallery wrap built to hold its color for years. It reads as honest compass wall decor for a sailor, a navigator, or anyone building a small collection of antique compass finds, and it settles naturally next to a globe, a chart, or a well-loved atlas.

Both sizes hang with the canvas’s own adhesive strips, holding securely without nails or tools, and removing cleanly without holes or wall damage – ready to hang the moment it arrives. The gallery wrap gives either size a clean, classic edge, about 1 inch deep, with the image carried around the sides.

A stellar compass patent canvas print like this one makes a thoughtful gift for a sailor, a traveler, or anyone who would rather hang a real navigation instrument than typical wall art. Bring it into a study, den, or office and let the linework carry the history.

Every order is made and packed by hand in our family shop in Northeast Ohio. We use premium gallery-wrapped canvas, high-quality frame material and fade-resistant inks for both prints and canvas. Each frame is made to order and shipped same or next business day.
