Hammock Patent Canvas Print, Vintage 1895 Cord-and-Ring Wall Art

Description

A hammock patent canvas print, reproducing an 1895 U.S. patent drawing of a corded hammock bed secured by cord loops to a single suspension ring. The 11×14 suits a shelf or gallery wall, and the 16×20 makes a bolder statement for a porch, sunroom or lake house wall, both gallery-wrapped and ready to hang.

The plate draws the whole hammock in six figures – the bed itself as close parallel cords running between a spreader at each end, the fans of cord radiating out to a triangular ring, a cord-and-chain detail, and the lashing knot that finishes it off. The idea being patented is simply how the bed attaches to the ring, so a whole hammock could be strung and taken down without retying it each time. It’s a small, practical patent from 1895, and the drawing still reads as a clear record of an old cord hammock’s construction. Reducing a hammock to its cords and a single ring, rather than drawing the whole porch scene around it, is what makes the plate feel more like an engineering record than a picture.

Made in the USA, each canvas is made to order in our family workshop in Northeast Ohio and printed with fade-resistant inks on gallery-wrapped canvas. It suits a porch, sunroom or lake house wall, and makes a fitting gift for anyone who loves easy summer living or early Americana.

The classic gallery-wrapped canvas has the image carried around the edges for a clean, finished look. It hangs with adhesive strips already in the box – it holds securely without nails or tools, and removes cleanly without holes or wall damage, so it travels well between apartments, rentals, dorms and offices.

A hammock patent canvas print like this one gives a porch or sunroom wall a relaxed piece of summer history. Pick the size and the style, and it arrives ready to hang.

Every order is made and packed by hand in our family shop in Northeast Ohio. We use premium gallery-wrapped canvas, high-quality frame material and fade-resistant inks for both prints and canvas. Each frame is made to order and shipped same or next business day.
