Dogs Playing Poker Canvas Print by Cassius Marcellus Coolidge

Description

Cassius Marcellus Coolidge’s classic 1903 card game, printed edge to edge on gallery canvas in 14×11 and 20×16, with a floating-frame upgrade on either size. As a dogs playing poker canvas print it keeps all seven dogs around the green felt table under the hanging lamp, the whiskey, the cigars, and the white bulldog passing an ace of clubs beneath the table exactly as Coolidge painted them.

Coolidge painted this scene, formally titled A Friend in Need, as part of a series he made for a cigar company’s advertising, and it has gone on to become one of the most reproduced images in American art. The card table, the lamp light, and the sly bulldog’s ace-passing bluff are the details fans look for first, and every one of them is printed on the canvas exactly as Coolidge laid them out. It reads as both a genuine piece of American folk art and pure fun, at home over a home bar, in a den, or in a game room.

Each canvas is made to order and made in the USA in our family-owned shop in Northeast Ohio, gallery-wrapped and printed with fade-resistant inks so the greens and golds hold their color for years. Choose the classic gallery-wrapped canvas or the floating-frame upgrade for a den, game room, or home bar wall, and this piece of vintage wall art settles just as easily into man cave decor, game room decor, or a gallery wall of dog wall art.

The canvas arrives ready to hang in either style, and the included adhesive strips hold it securely without nails or tools, then remove cleanly without holes or wall damage whenever you rearrange the wall. Pick 14×11 for a shelf above a bar cart or 20×16 to anchor a larger game room wall, and the floating frame adds a shadow-box edge that suits a den or home bar.

Bring the most famous card game in American art home with a Dogs Playing Poker canvas print that keeps every bluff, every dog, and every detail exactly as Coolidge painted them.

Every order is made and packed by hand in our family shop in Northeast Ohio. We use premium gallery-wrapped canvas, high-quality frame material and fade-resistant inks for both prints and canvas. Each frame is made to order and shipped same or next business day.
