Baritone Horn Patent Canvas Print – Vintage 1888 Brass Instrument Art

Description

A vintage patent print of a three-valve upright brass horn, offered on gallery-wrapped canvas in 11×14 and 16×20. As a baritone horn patent canvas print it reproduces an 1888 U.S. patent drawing in sepia tones on parchment: a flared bell rising from a tall wrapped loop of tubing, three piston valves in a row with their finger buttons, and a curving leadpipe that narrows to a small mouthpiece. Braces hold the bell steady against the coiled tubing — the recognizable shape of a baritone horn or euphonium.

The same sheet carries the smaller mechanical figures that made the patent worth filing: a single valve piston drawn from two sides with its helical groove, the valve shown in cross-section with its coil spring, the valve key and stem, a cap, and a plain disc. A separate S-curved mouthpipe, hooked at one end and fitted with its own mouthpiece, sits alongside the main horn on the same plate. Together the sheet reads as a full mechanical drawing of a 19th-century brass instrument rather than a simplified illustration — the kind of detail a band director, a repair tech, or a collector of brass-instrument history notices right away.

Made in the USA and hand-finished in our family shop in Northeast Ohio, each canvas is gallery-wrapped with fade-resistant inks that hold their sepia tone for years. Each one is made to order, so your print ships once the size and style are set rather than coming off a shelf. Hung as baritone wall art in a band room, set out as baritone home decor for a music-loving household, or layered into baritone room decor alongside other brass pieces, the plate does the talking on its own — no added graphics, no modern lettering, just the original patent sheet.

Both sizes ship canvas from the start: the 11×14 groups well with other brass or wind-instrument prints, and the 16×20 holds a wall on its own. The classic gallery wrap gives it a finished, gallery-style edge — both sizes hang the same way, holding securely without nails or tools and removing cleanly without holes or wall damage, so it settles into a rental, dorm, or first apartment as easily as a permanent den or studio.

For a music room that needs one more piece of real history, a band hall wall, or a gift for a serious brass player, this baritone horn patent print brings genuine 19th-century engineering to the wall in a size that fits the space.
