Every patent print here starts from the drawing an inventor actually filed. The figure numbers, the section lines, the draughtsman's hand — a patent drawing had to explain a machine to an examiner who had never seen one, and that is why it still reads well on a wall a century later. This is patent print wall art taken from those originals rather than redrawn to look old.

What We Carry

It is a wide catalogue, and it tends to be bought for a person rather than a room. Firearms and archery. Motorcycles and engines. Fishing reels, golf clubs, baseball gloves. Musical instruments — brass, strings, drums. Kitchen and bar pieces, from corkscrews to coffee pots. Medical and dental instruments. Tools, tractors, aircraft, cameras. If somebody has spent thirty years around a particular machine, there is usually a patent for it.

Who They Are Bought For

Patent art earns its place in rooms where the subject means something. An office, a workshop, a den, a practice waiting room. They work as retirement gifts for someone leaving a trade they gave their life to, as graduation gifts for someone entering one, and as the answer to the person who has every tool already. A dentist with the first dental chair on the wall, a brewer with a patent for a bottle capper.

Sizes, Frames And Canvas

Framed prints come in four frame colors — Barnwood, Charcoal, Black, and Walnut — in sizes from a slender panel up to an 11x14 wall piece. The smaller sizes have a fold-out easel back as well as a hanger, so they sit on a desk as easily as they hang. Canvas versions arrive gallery-wrapped and ready to hang, and suit a larger wall where the drawing can be read from across the room.

Sets are worth considering. Patent drawings were made in series, and three or four related figures hung together read as one piece — a workshop wall of tools, a music room of instruments, a hallway of the same machine evolving.

Everything is printed and finished to order in our family-owned shop in the USA, on fade-resistant inks behind a clear front panel that keeps the fine line work sharp for years.
