Court Reporter Patent Canvas Print, 1943 Shorthand Machine Art

Price range: $29.99 through $34.99

This court reporter patent canvas print reproduces a 1943 patent drawing of a shorthand machine, gallery-wrapped for a law office, courtroom hallway, or home study.

The plate lays out the machine in plan view – the double row of key pairs, the paper feed at centre, and the platen roller at the back that a court reporter would have run thousands of pages through.

Made in the USA and gallery-wrapped by hand in our family workshop in NE Ohio, it hangs securely with adhesive strips – no nails, no wall damage – and ships made to order.

Description

A 1943 patent drawing of a vintage shorthand machine, printed on gallery-wrapped canvas in 11×14 and 16×20. As a court reporter patent canvas print it lays the machine out in plan view in fine sepia line-work on aged parchment – the tapered housing, the double row of keys, and the paper path running back to the roller.

The machine itself is a mid-century shorthand typewriter, built for the one job a courtroom depends on: a word-for-word record, typed as fast as it’s spoken. Its keys work in pairs rather than one letter at a time, which is what let a trained operator keep pace with a room full of talking. The plate captures it from directly above, the way a patent drawing has to, with none of the wear a machine like this would show after years in a courtroom. It suits a law office, a courthouse hallway, or a collection built around the tools of the legal trade.

Each canvas is Made in the USA, printed and gallery-wrapped by hand in our family workshop in Northeast Ohio, using fade-resistant inks that hold their sepia tone for years indoors. Every piece is made to order, so the print ships once it’s built. The 16×20 works as a statement piece on its own wall; the 11×14 fits into a smaller grouping of legal or courtroom-themed prints.

Both sizes hold securely without nails or tools, and remove cleanly without holes or wall damage, using the adhesive strips that ship with every canvas – an easy option for a rented office, a first apartment, or a home study you don’t want to patch. Either size is gallery-wrapped for a finished, gallery-ready edge.

A fitting piece for a court reporter, an attorney’s office, or anyone who collects patent drawings tied to the legal trade.

Every order is made and packed by hand in our family shop in Northeast Ohio. We use premium gallery-wrapped canvas, high-quality frame material and fade-resistant inks for both prints and canvas. Each frame is made to order and shipped same or next business day.
