The Triumph of Death Canvas Print by Pieter Bruegel the Elder

Price range: $29.99 through $54.99

This triumph of death canvas print reproduces Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s panorama of an army of skeletons driving the living toward a coffin-lidded trap, on gallery canvas.

Bruegel painted it around 1562, and the original has hung in the Museo del Prado in Madrid since the seventeenth century, one of the most studied works of the Northern Renaissance.

Made in the USA in our family-owned workshop, it comes in 14×11 and 20×16, gallery-wrapped or floating frame, and hangs without nails or tools.

Description

The Triumph of Death, printed on gallery-wrapped canvas from Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s original at the Museo del Prado. Available as an 14×11 or 20×16, in classic gallery-wrap canvas or the floating-frame style. As a triumph of death canvas print it carries Bruegel’s full panorama, an army of skeletons driving the living toward a coffin-lidded trap and one mounted on a pale horse with a scythe, edge to edge onto the wall.

Bruegel painted this panorama around 1562, working across an entire panel rather than a single scene, so the eye moves from a burning town on the horizon down through ranks of skeletons closing on the living. Nobles, soldiers, and lovers all appear in the crowd being driven toward the trap, a reminder that death was understood in the sixteenth century as something that came for every rank equally. The panel has been in the Museo del Prado in Madrid since the seventeenth century, and it remains one of the most studied works of the Northern Renaissance.

Each canvas is printed and stretched to order in our family-owned workshop in Northeast Ohio, made in the USA with fade-resistant inks that keep the browns and reds true for years. Choose the classic gallery-wrapped canvas or upgrade to the floating-frame style for a look with more depth on the wall.

Both sizes hang with adhesive strips already in the box — press them to the wall and it holds securely without nails or tools, then removes cleanly without holes or wall damage, ideal for apartments, rentals, dorms, and offices. The floating frame is a simple upgrade if you want a shadow-box look without changing the print itself. The 20×16 fills a study or library wall on its own, while the 14×11 sits easily among other Northern Renaissance prints in a gallery wall.

Add this triumph of death canvas print to a gallery wall of old masters, or let it stand alone in a study or library.

Every order is made and packed by hand in our family shop in Northeast Ohio. We use premium gallery-wrapped canvas, high-quality frame material and fade-resistant inks for both prints and canvas. Each frame is made to order and shipped same or next business day.
